Om WAIMH Congress Leipzig 2010October 7, 2009 In this and the subsequent flyers we introduce one of the five plenary speakers we have in the next WAIMH Congress in Leipzig 2010. One of the plenaries will be given by professor Hiram Fitzgerald, with the title Etiology of Alcoholism: Early Organization and Key Transitional Periods from Birth to 25. Visit WAIMH at www.waimh.org Dear colleaguesthe first WAIMH congress to be held in Germany in Leipzig is nearing with the central theme of "Infancy in Times of Transition". Hiram (Hi) Fitzgerald (Ph.D., University of Denver, 1967) is University Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Associate Provost for University Outreach and Engagement at Michigan State University. Fitzgerald is Co-Director of the Michigan Longitudinal Study of Family Risk over the Life Course, is a member of the Early Head Start National Research Consortium and the Father and Risk-Resilience Work Groups, and serves on the advisory committee of the University of Colorado, Denver National Center for American Indian and Alaskan Native Head Start Research. He has published extensively in the areas of human development, infancy, and developmental psychopathology. Hi is Senior Editor of "Crisis in Youth Mental Health (4 volumes)" (Praeger Press), and the forthcoming "Child Development and Mental Health: Ethno Racial Perspectives (10 volumes)" ( Praeger Press), and is editor of the Infant Mental Health Journal (2010-2012).
